95/96 Squad

Why is this a key part of DGL history?.......... It was the Club's first season competing in the more structured level of Saturday football in Middlesex County Football League, having played so many years in the local Sunday leagues. Started in Division 2.

The Club under Eduardo Cagigao Souto guidance made the leap with a very talented group of players put together from other spanish teams and the base that already existed at DGL.
A picture from the archives - can you name them all? (I'm struggling with one name) Are you in the picture? Do you wish you were still that young? lol.

There are still a few names that could be added to the pic. Tag yourself.

The table, also pictured...... very impressive. That squad incidently still has the most consecutive league wins record, 7 on the bounce. The 2016/17 squad managed 6 but did go on an unbeaten 15 game run.

Having won the league, we promoted to the Senior Division and in the following season 1996/97, the squad went on to secure the runners up spot behind Broadfields United FC.

Interesting fact....... it's only Broadfields and us that have moved on to bigger and better things with all those other clubs now folded. We maintain a great relationship with Broadfields to this day, although we had some pretty heated games back in the day!
